The world’s third largest smartphone manufacturer ties up with Taiwan’s Foxconn to make Xiaomi Red Mi 2 Prime in India.
With an eye on its market expansion cost cutting, Xiaomi will now make its phones in India.
As the company is already in the buzz due to its low-cost phones in India, an assembling unit will help to have a strong base and reduce its shipping lead times.
Vice President of the company also conveyed that the first manufacturing unit will be setup in Andhra Pradesh which will produce RedMi 2 prime.

Though the Vice President did not declare the size of the investment, he stated that the company wanted to be close to their consumers and want their phones to be designed for India.
Officially return of Foxconn company in the Indian market is recognized by Hon Hai Precision Industry company.
Hugo Barra mentioned it was easy setting up an assembly unit in India compared to Brazil as it took them about three times more to set up in Brazil.
Red Mi 2 Prime, which will be manufactured in India, is an improved version of Red Mi2 priced Rs. 6999 on MI.com and also will be available on other partner sites like Flipkart, Amazon and Snapdeal.
After Andhra Pradesh the company will invest $ 5 billion n India to set up further assembly units in Maharashtra and also to build additional data centers.
After a start-up in 2010 with the assistance of MI fans, entrepreneur Lei jun, in the first four years the company sold 61 million handsets.
