Politicians and legislators from around the world attended an annual meeting at the Vatican this week which was graced by Pope Francis. Former White House press secretary who is also a devout Catholic was in attendance and termed it a rare opportunity that he had waited for all his life. The Vatican leader has been making trips around the world to preach against racism and intolerance. He has been urging people around the globe to embrace brotherhood and love each other.

In May, US President Donald Trump and his entourage met the Pope but Mr Spicer was struck out of the list. Sunday will go down records as one of the happiest days for the top official. It was the day that he finally got his audience with the Catholic leader.

Spicer had in May strongly sought out for the opportunity to come face to face with the head of the Catholic Church. However, a number of restraints emanated from the Vatican barring him from reaching his goal.

The parties in attendance delved in a discussion on the relationship that exists between Christianity and politics. In May, Trump held a short private meeting with the head of the Catholic as part of his foreign tour. Later, Melania, Jared Kushner and Ivanka who happen to be Trump’s wife, son-in-law and daughter respectively moved in.

The others who were also lucky to share in the memorable moment were the National Security Adviser HR McMaster and the Secretary of State Rex Tillerson. It was during that meeting that Melania, a catholic called upon the Pope to bless her rosary beads.

The American leader tweeted : “Honour of a lifetime to meet His Holiness Pope Francis. I leave the Vatican more determined than ever to pursue PEACE in our world.”

Spicer left the press secretary position in July to revolt against the appointment of Anthony Scaramucci as the new communications director. He was against the organizational shake-up as a whole. Mr Scaramucci was laid off after holding the post for only about 10 days.
