Uber To Include A Ride Request Button In Other Apps
Uber is seeking new ways of making its services easier to access. The latest announcement reveals that the company has opened its platform for developers to create access through other apps.
Developers can now integrate Uber’s ride request button into their Android and iOS apps. The firm is requesting developers to register their apps with Uber so that they can be issued with the code required to facilitate the integration of the Uber button, with the applications. The company believes that the Uber button will make it more convenient and faster for users to access the service.
Normally one would have to pull out their phone and start searching for the Uber app, and the company feels that it will lead to some lost opportunities. Gaining access through different apps speeds up the whole process. The company claims that adding the Uber button on third party apps will be easy because all it requires is a few lines of code. Uber spokesperson added that if developers tried to link Uber functionalities to their apps without the button, it would take a lot of deep linking. Furthermore, it would be a hectic and time-consuming activity because it would involve a trial and error approach.
The Uber button provides new opportunities and functionalities with the button. The company aims at letting people purchase movie tickets through the button on their phones and then requesting a ride to and from the movie theatre. Overall, it will allow the company to add new products that will be available to customers.
The ride request button will also be a great addition to the company’s global expansion strategy as well as competitive measure against the firm’s rivals. Uber is not the only company that has adopted such a strategy. Its competitor known as Lyft also included a similar functionality that allows people to call for rides directly through Slack, a popular app focused on productivity.
Nevertheless, the ride request button is a great opportunity for the firm as far as creativity and innovation are concerned.
